There was recent news that Google, together with partners (Nvidia, OpenAI, and Kakao), has created a new tool called SynthID.
It allows you to determine whether content was generated using AI or other generative technologies.
In other words, if you generate an image using a tool like Firefly or Stable Diffusion, it won't flag it as AI-generated.
The creators likely hope that other major AI players will soon join the initiative and also start marking or signing their generated content. Time will tell, but this is clearly a step toward standardization in the field of generative AI.
The tool currently supports only the following media types:
- Images
- Video
- Audio
It’s a shame, really; I was hoping for an official detector for AI-generated text, but for now, this is what we have.
