VPS (Virtual private server)

This is a service whose essence is that access to a dedicated server on a specific machine is provided. There can be thousands of such dedicated servers on one machine. Typically, managing such a server is no different from managing a regular, physical one.
Here are some examples of using VPS:
VPS hosting can be compared to dedicated and shared hosting. If with dedicated hosting you have a whole machine at your disposal and no one can influence its performance, except you of course, then in shared hosting, all resources are shared and the work of one site can significantly affect another. So, VPS hosting is somewhere in between.
