Canonical address of page
Often referred to as the "canonical URL," is the preferred URL that webmasters designate for a specific piece of content. This is particularly important in the context of search engine optimization (SEO) to prevent issues related to duplicate content.
Another definition associated with the canonical address is normalization. It is also deduplication.
Normalization is the process by which you choose a canonical URL that will represent your page in search results, among all possible options.
When do duplicates appear?:
- There are different versions of sites. Whether for different regions or devices or protocols.
- From the results of sorting and filtering
- A page that is not sufficiently translated, from one language to another.
